As promised to my faithful followers, YouTube watchers, and friends – here is my complete pc build parts list including shoppable links, tools, guides, and references I used along the way.
Building my first PC was a challenging and rewarding experience wrapped into one. If you’re considering taking on the challenge too, please don’t skip my final thoughts section at the bottom of this post!
Planning + Research
First, the Why
Before diving into all the details, I should probably mention why I chose to build a computer in. the first place. At the beginning of 2021, I made a goal to start my YouTube channel as another method of content creation.
Creating, editing, and rendering my own channel’s videos as well as managing and creating a client’s YouTube videos was taking a toll on my not even a year old Macbook Pro. Especially as the video content began getting longer and renders became heavier, I knew this wasn’t sustainable for much longer.
I had the idea to build a computer in the back of my mind but didn’t know much about the process yet. I stumbled on the tech-side of TikTok in May where I found creator HapaThunder and his viral Zenitsu PC Build. I was obsessed. Still am. With his video saved as inspo and HapaThunder’s pc build TikTok series, the process had started.
Then, the Plan
The planning phase took longer than you might think. After researching, I knew I wanted some of the aesthetic parts that give the build some character. The special cables, plates, and RGB add-ons come at an extra cost that I had to budget for. Research also taught me what kind of CPU would be best for my line of work without breaking the bank. This was the case for a handful of the other pieces too such as the graphics card, memory, and storage. My best pal for this research was the PC Part Picker Website.

Final Thoughts
If it goes right the first time, does it even count?
After my escapades mid-build (watch on YouTube to find out why), I think my biggest lesson learned was even when you’re super careful, something can still go wrong. If I would have gone in knowing that, I wouldn’t have taken my screw up so hard.
All the cables can get overwhelming.
On day one I was getting overwhelmed by all the cables and mess. I had to take a step back and assess the situation in pieces to knock it out and plug in all pieces properly. This may be a case by case basis (because messes stress me out) but if at any point it the build gets overwhelming, it’s okay to take a step back or take a break and come back to it later.
In Summary,
This build is still one of the coolest things I’ve ever done! I had such an accomplished feeling post-build (and still do) and I’m just so proud of it. If you’re considering building your first PC – budget for it and do it!
